Oxilixo – Product Overview
What is Oxilixo?
A ready-to-use, water-based rust-conversion primer that chemically converts existing rust into a stable, anti-corrosive complex while forming a durable, semi-gloss protective coating. 2LT WITH EXTENDER SPRAY ATTACHMENT
Key Benefits
Direct application onto rusty or bare metal – no need for full rust removal
Stops corrosion at its source through dual-action adsorption and complexation
Strong adhesion to steel, aluminum, copper and more
Excellent re-coatability with any marine or industrial topcoat
Fast drying, water-dilutable, halogen- and zinc-free
Ideal For
Maritime structures (ballast tanks, decks), heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, automotive repair and any metal surface difficult to prepare by blasting.
How to Apply Oxilixo
Surface Preparation
Remove loose rust, scale, oil and contaminants (SSPC-SP3).
Flush thoroughly with fresh water; allow flash-rust or tightly adhered brown rust to remain.
Equipment & Product
No stirring or thinning required; single-component, ready-to-use.
Flush spray equipment with fresh water before use.
Application Technique
Spray: Airless tip 0.016–0.018″, fan 60°, pressure 3.0–3.5 kp.
Brush/Roller: For small areas or stripe-coating welds and edges.
Work primer well into surface while wet; overlap each pass 50% to avoid pinholes.
Coating Thickness & Drying
Regular use: 1 – 1.5 mils DFT (2 – 3 mils wet)
Marine/heavy-duty: 1.5 – 2 mils DFT (3 – 4 mils wet). Allow 1 – 3 hours before recoating.
Curing & Topcoat
Touch up pinholes by brush once film is handle-dry.
Allow 12 – 24 hours full cure before overcoating with epoxy, acryl, alkyd, vinyl or PU systems.
